Saudi woman diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma in armpit
A 53-year-old Saudi woman was diagnosed with a pigmented basal cell carcinoma (BCC) in her left axillary fold, a rare location for this type of skin cancer. The lesion was discovered incidentally during a follow-up for another skin condition. The patient had no significant risk factors for BCC, such as sun exposure or a family history of skin cancer. A biopsy confirmed the diagnosis, and she underwent surgical excision with clear margins. She is currently being monitored for any recurrence. This case highlights the importance of early detection of skin lesions, even in uncommon areas. Although BCC rarely metastasizes, its increasing incidence necessitates awareness and thorough skin examinations by healthcare providers.
