Scholars promote Vedic learning with modern education
During the recent South India ‘Kshetriya Vedic Sammelan,’ scholars emphasized the importance of learning both the Vedas and modern education. The three-day event took place at Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) and featured around 100 Vedic scholars from five southern Indian states: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Vice-Chancellor Rani Sadasiva Murty highlighted the university's efforts to promote Vedic studies and the support from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Scholar G. Srinivasa Sharma encouraged young people to study the Vedas alongside contemporary subjects. He stated that this combination would help them excel and preserve their cultural heritage. TTD board member G. Bhanuprakash Reddy spoke about the importance of maintaining the Vedic traditions passed down by ancient sages. He assured that TTD would work to support this initiative. Additionally, Viroopaksha Jaddipal from Maharshi Sandipani Veda Vignana Peetham shared that there are currently 11,000 Vedic students in India, with a goal to increase this number to over 100,000. He mentioned that the Vedas can teach valuable lessons about peace, nature, patriotism, medicine, and equality.
