Scientists find new exoplanet with metal-rich core 690 light years from Earth
Scientists have discovered a new exoplanet named TOI-6651b, located 690 light years from Earth. This planet is five times larger and 60 times heavier than Earth, making it the fourth exoplanet found in the Neptunian desert. TOI-6651b orbits a Sun-like star every five days and has a core composed of 87% metals, primarily iron. Its surface temperature is about 1,500 degrees Kelvin, making it uninhabitable. The discovery was made using the PARAS-2 spectroscope at the Physical Research Laboratory in India. This advanced instrument allows for the detection of smaller planets, enhancing future exploration capabilities.
