Scottish patients facing outdated medical equipment issues
Scottish Labour has revealed that patients are using outdated medical equipment in Scotland. NHS Grampian has an MRI scanner that is 15 years old and an X-ray machine that is 27 years old. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has several machines over a decade old. The Society of Radiographers has raised concerns about the age of diagnostic imaging equipment. They state that equipment older than 10 years is often unreliable and requires costly maintenance. Newer machines provide better images and reduce radiation exposure. Scottish Labour's health spokeswoman criticized the situation, linking it to the current government's management of the NHS. The Scottish Government has been asked for a response regarding the issue.
