Seahawks likely to draft tight end Colston Loveland
The Seattle Seahawks have made significant changes to their offense this offseason. They have lost key players like wide receivers Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, along with quarterback Geno Smith. Lockett was released, and both Metcalf and Smith were traded to teams in the AFC. To address these losses, the Seahawks signed quarterback Sam Darnold to a three-year contract. They also added wide receivers Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Cooper Kupp to strengthen their lineup. However, experts believe they still need more talent for Darnold. According to Daniel Jeremiah from NFL.com, the Seahawks should consider drafting tight end Colston Loveland from Michigan with their No. 18 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Jeremiah points out that while the team may have other pressing needs, Loveland’s skills make him too valuable to overlook. Last season, Loveland made 56 catches for 582 yards and scored five touchdowns. His standout year was in 2023, when he achieved 649 yards while Michigan won the national title. Although his statistics may not appear exceptional, his performance in games shows he has great potential as a playmaker. At 6-foot-5, Loveland's height makes him a great target in the red zone. He is also a strong blocker, which adds to his versatility. The Seahawks currently have talent at tight end with A.J. Barner and Noah Fant, but Fant’s contract is nearing its end. Whether they keep him or not, drafting Loveland could greatly improve the Seahawks' offense.
