Sebaashray camps treated 12.3 lakh people in Kolkata
Kolkata: The Sebaashray medical camps have successfully concluded after assisting 12.3 lakh people in Diamond Harbour. Launched on January 2 by MP Abhishek Banerjee, the initiative focused on providing vital medical services directly to the community. Over the past 75 days, camps were held for 70 days, along with five days of mega camps. These services included free consultations, diagnostic tests, and medicines. Patients received important treatments, such as cataract surgeries and hearing support. Notable cases included Altaf, a 9-year-old who received heart surgery at JIMS Hospital. His operation involved over 20 specialists, with Banerjee playing a key role in his care. Another patient, Sheikh Hasibul, aged 21, underwent surgery to remove a spinal tumor that had left him wheelchair-bound. Young Neha Maji, just 3 years old, was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy-Type 3. Sebaashray ensured she received consultations and physiotherapy, which her family could not afford. Almisha Khatun, a 2-year-old with a nerve disease, also received attention at NIMHANS. The camps also reached patients from other states. Asha, 58, from Rajasthan received help during the Ganga Sagar Mela, and a migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh benefited from the services.
