Second impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Sara Duterte over P612.5 million in confidential funds

Seventy-four members of progressive groups filed a second impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, accusing her of misusing P612.5 million in confidential funds. The complaint highlights her spending P125 million in just 11 days in December 2022. The complainants, including former lawmakers and various advocacy group members, claim Duterte betrayed public trust by abusing her discretionary powers and failing to provide transparency. They also noted deficiencies in the documentation for the funds spent. This complaint follows a previous one filed by 16 civil society members, which included multiple charges against Duterte. For the impeachment to proceed, at least one-third of the House must support it before it moves to the Senate for a trial.
