Second pro-Palestinian protester arrested in New Jersey
U.S. authorities have arrested a second pro-Palestinian protester from Columbia University. A Palestinian woman was detained in New Jersey for overstaying her student visa, while another activist chose to leave the country voluntarily. The Department of Homeland Security stated that the woman had her visa revoked due to lack of attendance. This follows a previous arrest in April 2024 for participating in protests at Columbia. Federal agents also executed search warrants on the Columbia campus, investigating whether the university was harboring illegal aliens. Columbia's interim president confirmed no arrests were made during the search.
