Second suspect convicted in Chemung County assault case
Fatiuna Massaline, 25, was found guilty of assaulting a police officer and second-degree assault in a retail theft incident that injured Chemung County sheriff's investigator Michael Theetge. The incident occurred on March 29, 2024, outside a Target store. Theetge suffered serious injuries after being ejected from the hood of a car driven by Massaline while pursuing a theft suspect. He is currently in rehabilitation and hopes to return to work. Massaline's co-defendant, Dominick Haley, pleaded guilty to related charges and is set to be sentenced on April 14. Massaline's sentencing is scheduled for May 19.
