Secret Harbour Beach closed after shark encounter
Secret Harbour Beach, located south of Perth, has been closed after a reported incident involving a shark. The beach was shut down around 10:23 AM on Saturday following an interaction that involved a surfer. Surf Life Saving WA reported that an unknown type of shark bumped a surfer’s board about 40 meters from the shore. Shortly after this incident, lifesavers noted another sighting of a two-meter bronze whaler shark, also about 40 meters from the beach. It is not yet clear if these reports involve the same shark or two different sharks. In response to the incidents, Surf Life Saving WA took quick action to close the beach for safety. Authorities from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are currently monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.
