Section 144 imposed in Islamabad ahead of PTI's planned nationwide protests
The Islamabad administration has imposed Section 144 for two months, banning public gatherings of five or more people. This decision aims to maintain law and order ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest planned for November 24. The ban covers all public places in Islamabad, including sensitive areas like the Red Zone. Authorities cited concerns over potential unlawful assemblies and disruptions to public order as reasons for the restrictions. PTI, led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, plans nationwide protests, demanding the revocation of a constitutional amendment and the release of political prisoners. Khan has been in custody since August 2023 on various charges.
