Security heightened in Prayagraj for upcoming festivals

In Prayagraj, police are increasing security ahead of upcoming festivals, including Alvida Namaz, Eid, Chaitra Navratri, and Ramnavami. They have begun a verification drive for e-rickshaw and auto drivers, as well as tenants throughout the city and rural areas. To ensure peaceful celebrations, police are also activating peace committees in different neighborhoods. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the state police to take steps to maintain order during the festive season. Senior officers have held meetings to encourage more patrolling in vulnerable areas. DCP (City) Abhishek Bharti stated that police are working to verify drivers and have instructed officers to meet with local religious leaders and community members. They are appealing for peaceful celebrations. Police will inspect routes for processions and assign officers based on expected crowd sizes. They are also focusing on noise control, planning to remove illegal loudspeakers and ensuring that permitted ones do not exceed volume limits. Additionally, officers have been told to prevent any non-traditional events from occurring during the festivals. Police will monitor their areas closely to maintain religious harmony. They will also meet with hotel managers to ensure guests have proper identification and step up night patrols to handle reckless driving or loud motorcycles.
