Seekers of Skyveil shutting down after less than month
Elodie, the developer behind the game Seekers of Skyveil, will close its doors and shut down the game just 18 days after its release. The decision comes as the studio faces challenges in attracting a large player base and securing further funding. Seekers of Skyveil combined elements of multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games and extraction shooters, similar to popular titles like Escape From Tarkov. Despite positive feedback from some gaming critics, the game only received a mixed user rating on Steam following its early access launch. In a blog post, the Elodie team expressed gratitude to players for their support. They acknowledged the difficulty of maintaining development and marketing efforts without sufficient funding. The studio had previously raised $32.5 million for a different project before pivoting to create Seekers of Skyveil. Players who made purchases within the game will receive refunds. The game's servers will remain active for 10 days, allowing players to enjoy free access to all heroes and bonuses. After March 31, players will still be able to launch the game, but matchmaking will be disabled. This closure adds to a trend of quick game shutdowns in the industry, with other titles like Level Zero: Extraction also ceasing development shortly after launch. Those interested can still download Seekers of Skyveil for free on Steam before it shuts down completely.
