Sega revives pagers with new emoji messaging device for kids

Sega is launching a new device called emojam, which revives the concept of pagers but allows users to send messages using emojis. Unlike traditional pagers, emojam supports over 1,100 emojis and limits messages to 10 emojis each. The device connects via Wi-Fi but is not a standard internet device. Users can only message friends they have met in real life, promoting safer communication by requiring physical contact to register friends. Targeted mainly at children, emojam aims to provide a more thoughtful way to communicate. It will be available for purchase on December 10 for 7,150 yen.
