Senator calls impeachment move against Vice President Duterte very divisive
Senator JV Ejercito described the impeachment move against Vice President Sara Duterte as "very divisive." He expressed concern that ongoing political conflicts could hinder the country's economic progress and signal instability to international investors. Senate President Francis Escudero urged senators to avoid commenting on the impeachment complaint, emphasizing the need for impartiality if the Senate acts as an impeachment court. He warned that bias could damage public trust in the Senate. The first impeachment complaint against Duterte was filed by civil society groups with the House of Representatives. The 50-page document was endorsed by Akbayan party-list Representative Percival Cendaña.
