Senator raises alarm as only 10% of Pogo workers deported after deadline in Philippines

Senator Raffy Tulfo raised concerns that only 10% of foreign workers from Philippine offshore gaming operators (Pogo) have been deported since the December 31, 2024 deadline. As of August 2024, there were 30,144 foreign Pogo workers in the country. The Bureau of Immigration reported that only 12,106 visa cancellation orders were issued, with just 3,024 workers deported. Tulfo questioned the status of the remaining 27,000 foreign workers, suggesting they may still be operating illegally. The Bureau of Immigration is increasing efforts to apprehend remaining Pogo workers, despite facing logistical challenges. They reported apprehending 438 individuals since the start of the year.
