Sengupta produces Indian comedy-drama on housing corruption
Aditya Vikram Sengupta is producing "Republic of Mahalaxmi Apartment," a comedy-drama directed by Niladri Mukherjee. The film, about corruption in an Indian housing society, has been selected for the Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum to seek funding. The project has a budget of $216,000, with $20,000 raised so far. It follows a single mother, Vidya, who uncovers corruption after reporting safety issues in her apartment building, facing backlash from residents loyal to the building's president. The producers aim to connect with Asian co-producers at the forum. They plan to cast the lead role soon and hope to start filming by the end of the year.
