Sensor Tower acquires Video Game Insights for gaming data
Sensor Tower has acquired Video Game Insights (VGI), enhancing its research capabilities in the gaming market. This deal will allow Sensor Tower to merge its mobile gaming data with VGI's expertise in PC and console gaming. VGI specializes in collecting data from platforms like Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. This information includes game sales and user behavior trends. Both companies aim to provide greater insights for publishers across all gaming platforms. Oliver Yeh, CEO of Sensor Tower, emphasized the acquisition's value in understanding player behavior and market trends. He stated that this new dataset will help publishers analyze their performance and refine their growth strategies. This is Sensor Tower's second acquisition, following the purchase of mobile marketing firm data.ai in 2024. Yeh noted that customers have long requested insights into PC and console gaming. Karl Kontus, CEO of VGI, expressed excitement about joining Sensor Tower. He believes their combined data will give customers a better understanding of market trends and user preferences, helping them grow more quickly.
