Seven family members booked after retired cop's suicide

A retired police officer in Jhajjar, India, has died by suicide, allegedly due to harassment from his family. The 45-year-old man shot himself with his licensed revolver at his home on Tuesday night. His brother reported to the police that the victim was pressured by his wife, son, two daughters, and in-laws to transfer his property to them. The victim felt isolated, as he was reportedly kept at home while his family moved to Delhi. In a video message before his death, the victim claimed his wife had falsely accused him of cheating. He accused her of wanting to take all his assets and mentioned that she had married their daughter off to someone outside their religion, damaging his reputation. Following the complaint, police have booked the victim's wife and six others for abetment to suicide and other related charges. The investigation is ongoing.
