Seven madrassas sealed in Uttarakhand for unregistered status

District officials in Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, sealed seven madrassas during recent inspections. This action was taken because these institutions did not have valid recognition documents. A total of 24 madrassas were inspected, and over 50 unauthorized madrassas have been sealed across the state in recent weeks. Authorities had previously identified more than 200 madrassas operating without proper registration. Udham Singh Nagar has the highest number of these, with 129 unregistered madrassas. Other districts, like Dehradun and Nainital, also reported significant numbers. The inspections took place in Sitarganj and Kashipur. The team, which included local police and various officials, found no students or staff present at the sealed madrassas. In Sitarganj, three madrassas were sealed, while in Kashipur, four madrassas were closed for lacking necessary documents. SDM Ravindra Bisht stated that operators were instructed to present valid recognition documents, but many did not comply. As a result, they had to seal the establishments. The sealing process drew a crowd, but security was maintained to avoid any disruptions. Earlier this month, actions against illegal madrassas began with four being sealed in Khatima.
