Several car brands in Ireland reported under 100 sales
In Ireland, several car brands sold fewer than 100 new cars last year, raising questions about their future in a small market. While brands like Toyota and Volkswagen sold tens of thousands of cars, some others struggled significantly. Alfa Romeo, for instance, sold only 43 cars. In its prime, Alfa had a strong market presence, but it has faced challenges in recent years. The departure of chief executive Carlos Tavares may add uncertainty to the brand's future. However, Alfa's Irish importer plans to expand the dealer network and hopes new models, including an electric vehicle, will boost sales. Similarly, Subaru only sold 24 cars last year, partly due to its focus on the U.S. market. Great Wall Motors' Ora brand sold a mere 46 cars. Both brands are working on better-fitting models for Irish consumers and have plans for new electric vehicles in the near future. Alpine, another brand with low sales, is set to make a stronger entrance into the Irish market with new electric models. Their upcoming A290 electric hatch and a new sports car promise to attract more customers. Despite being part of larger corporate groups, these brands face a tough market. Analysts suggest that Chinese brands are gaining popularity, which could challenge established European and Japanese companies. Each brand will need to adapt quickly to survive in this competitive landscape.
