"Severance" Season 2 finale features shocking death scene
The production designer for "Severance," Jeremy Hindle, discussed the thrilling and intense Season 2 finale. He called it "mind blowing" and noted the challenges involved in making the show. In the finale, titled "Cold Harbor," viewers see a robotic version of Lumon’s founder, Kier, interacting with the main character, Mark. Hindle revealed that this automaton was not made using CGI but was created with basic animatronics. The team focuses on creating everything in-house, giving the show its unique feel. The finale also features a big celebration with a real marching band, but shooting was tricky due to the low ceiling of the set. Hindle said they had to carefully plan how to fit everything in. He humorously mentioned that actor John Turturro found it uncomfortable due to the space restrictions. A dramatic moment occurs when Mark accidentally kills Drummond, a Lumon executive. The scene included a mix of visual effects and practical blood, which Hindle described as a "nightmare" to clean up. Hindle also discussed the show's color themes. He stated that blue colors dominate the season, while red is used sparingly and only when it relates to love or blood. Some fans linked the colors to "The Matrix," but Hindle clarified this was not the case. He emphasized the difficulty of maintaining a consistent aesthetic with multiple directors and stressed that many creative ideas come from the actors themselves. As for a possible Season 3, there's no official announcement yet, but plans for the next season will be revealed soon. Hindle is eager to explore more stories within the Lumon office and has many ideas ready to go.
