Severe heatwave impacts Andhra Pradesh and Odisha regions
A severe heatwave is affecting 58 mandals in Andhra Pradesh, with some areas seeing temperatures above 42°C. The state’s disaster management authority has warned residents of the intense heat. The highest temperature recorded was 42.7°C in Nandyala district. Other hot spots included Kurnool and Kadapa districts, where temperatures were also above 41°C. The heatwave is expected to impact several districts, including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Parvathipuram Manyam. Residents in these areas have been advised to take precautions to stay safe from the extreme temperatures. In Odisha, weather conditions may improve soon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms over the coming days. The hottest place in Odisha recently was Boudh, hitting 43.6°C. Other regions also experienced high temperatures, though Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were relatively cooler. The IMD has issued warnings for thunderstorms, lightning, and possible hail starting Wednesday. Orange and yellow alerts have been announced for various districts, indicating the potential for severe weather. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepare for changing conditions.
