Severe storms disrupt holiday travel in the US with thousands of flight delays and one death from tornadoes
Severe weather across the U.S. on Saturday caused major disruptions to holiday travel. Over 7,000 flights were delayed and more than 200 canceled due to tornadoes in the southeast and heavy snow and wind on the west coast. At least 10 tornadoes struck Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, resulting in one death and several injuries in Brazoria County, Texas. Many homes and schools were damaged or destroyed. In the west, high winds reached up to 150 mph in California's Tahoe Basin, with heavy rain expected from San Francisco to Portland. Forecasters predict up to 3 feet of snow in Lake Tahoe and potential power outages.
