Severe storms disrupt holiday travel in the US with thousands of flights delayed and one dead from tornadoes
Severe weather on Saturday caused major disruptions to holiday travel in the U.S. Over 7,000 flights were delayed and more than 200 canceled. Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport saw about a third of its flights delayed, while nearly half were delayed in Dallas and Houston. In the southeast, at least 10 tornadoes struck Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, resulting in one death near Houston. Many homes and schools were damaged or destroyed, with reports of injuries in Brazoria County, Texas. On the west coast, high winds and heavy rain are expected, with gusts reaching 150 mph in California's Tahoe Basin. Forecasters predict up to 3 feet of snow in Lake Tahoe and significant rainfall from San Francisco to Portland, raising concerns about power outages.
