Severe thunderstorms disrupt holiday travel in Texas and Louisiana
Severe weather watches are in effect for parts of Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas as a storm system in the Gulf of Mexico approaches. The National Weather Service warns of high winds, hail, and possible tornadoes. A tornado warning was issued for areas northeast of Houston, but no damage has been reported. Over 100 flights were delayed or canceled at major Texas airports due to thunderstorms. Texas Governor Greg Abbott activated emergency response resources as holiday travel resumes. The highest risk for severe weather is expected in eastern Texas, southern Arkansas, and northern Louisiana.
