Severe thunderstorms disrupt holiday travel in Texas and Louisiana
Severe thunderstorms are affecting Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas, with warnings for high winds, hail, and possible tornadoes. The National Weather Service has issued alerts as a storm system moves through the Gulf of Mexico. More than 100 flights were delayed and dozens canceled at Dallas and Houston airports due to the storms. Texas Governor Greg Abbott activated emergency response resources amid the severe weather threat. The highest risk is forecast for areas east of Dallas, particularly between Houston and parts of Louisiana and Arkansas. Wind gusts could reach 60 to 80 mph, with hail expected to be at least 1 inch in diameter.
