Severe thunderstorms disrupt holiday travel in Texas and Louisiana
Severe weather watches are in effect for parts of Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas as a storm system approaches from the Gulf of Mexico. The National Weather Service warns of high winds, hail, and possible tornadoes. On Thursday, thunderstorms caused over 100 flight delays and numerous cancellations at Dallas and Houston airports. Texas Governor Greg Abbott activated emergency response resources due to the severe weather threat. The highest risk is forecast for areas east of Dallas, particularly between Houston and southern Arkansas. Wind gusts could reach 60 to 80 mph, with hail expected to be at least 1 inch in diameter.
