Severe thunderstorms disrupt holiday travel in Texas and Louisiana
Severe weather watches are in effect for parts of Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas as a storm system approaches from the Gulf of Mexico. The National Weather Service warns of high winds, hail, and possible tornadoes. More than 100 flights were delayed and dozens canceled at Dallas and Houston airports due to thunderstorms. Texas Governor Greg Abbott activated emergency response resources amid the increased weather threat. The highest risk is forecast for areas east of Dallas, particularly between Houston and southern Arkansas. Wind gusts could reach 60 to 80 mph, with hail expected to be at least 1 inch in diameter.
