Severe weather system brings rain, ice to Atlantic Canada
A severe weather system from the U.S. is moving into Atlantic Canada, bringing heavy rain and icy conditions. Freezing rain warnings are in effect for Newfoundland and Labrador, with ice buildup expected before temperatures rise above freezing. Freezing rain will start in western Labrador on Sunday afternoon and spread to Newfoundland by evening. The freezing rain will be more widespread inland, while coastal areas may remain above zero. Rain will begin in New Brunswick on Monday morning, moving into Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island by afternoon. Heavy rainfall may cause localized flooding, with the system expected to clear by Tuesday night.
