Severed foot found on Majorca beach raises alarm
A disturbing discovery has been made on the Spanish island of Majorca, which is popular with British tourists. A severed human foot and lower leg washed up on a beach near Can Pastilla, close to Playa de Palma. This gruesome find came just hours after a woman’s body also appeared in the same area. The gruesome find was made by a tourist who was near a busy nightclub. After seeing the remains, the tourist quickly contacted local authorities. However, by the time the officers arrived, the foot had already been swept back out to sea. Divers were called in and managed to recover the foot, along with a tibia and fibula that were found nearby. Authorities have stated that the size of the discovered bones suggests they belong to a man. A post mortem examination has been ordered by the Spanish National Police to help identify the victim. This incident marks the tenth time body parts have washed ashore in the Balearic Islands this year, including in popular spots like Mallorca and Ibiza. Local officials suspect these tragic discoveries are linked to migrants trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea in small boats. In total, two bodies were found in the towns of Cala Ratjada and Cala Deia, while four others were discovered on the Island of Formentera. The frequency of these findings has raised concerns about the dangers faced by migrants attempting to reach Europe, particularly from Algeria.
