"Shadow Force" blends action-comedy with espionage themes
Lionsgate has released a trailer for its new film, "Shadow Force." The movie combines elements of action-comedy and a married couple's struggle with work-life balance. It shares similarities with popular films like "Bad Boys" and "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." The film is directed by Joe Carnahan, known for action films such as "Smokin' Aces" and "The A-Team." He co-wrote the script with Leon Chills. The movie features prominent producers, including Emmy-winner Kerry Washington, who also stars alongside French actor Omar Sy. In "Shadow Force," Washington and Sy play Kyrah and Isaac. They were once leaders of a special operations group called "Shadow Force." After falling in love, they go into hiding to protect their son. With a bounty on their heads, they must engage in a fierce battle. The film aims to attract a diverse audience that may not usually see themselves in action movies. Alongside Washington and Sy, the cast includes rapper Clifford "Method Man" Smith and Oscar-winner Da'Vine Joy Randolph. Mark Strong plays the main antagonist. "Shadow Force" is set to be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
