Shadow King captures Armor in intense X-Men battle
The latest issue of Ultimate X-Men, written by Peach Momoko, marks the start of the X-Men's second year. In this episode, the Shadow King kidnaps Armor, one of the team members, bringing her to the Children of the Atom. This action prompts the other X-Men to rush to her aid. The story features a fierce battle with Dark Armor, the Shadow King, and the Maester, the leader of their enemies. This fight is unexpected in the Ultimate X-Men series, which typically focuses on storytelling over action. Fans appreciate this new direction, making this issue stand out. Throughout the fight, the X-Men, including Natsu and Nico Minoru, confront Armor, who is being controlled by the Shadow King. Despite their efforts, every time they defeat her, she rises again, more powerful under the Shadow King's control. The conflict escalates, and at one point, Kanon unleashes her oni to help. However, the issue takes an unexpected turn at the end. It is revealed that the entire battle was a simulation orchestrated by the Maester to test Armor and the Shadow King’s power. In truth, none of the fight actually happened. The ending highlights that the X-Men are caught in a game, adding an intriguing twist to the story. This volume of Ultimate X-Men continues to be distinctive, blending action with deeper themes. Ultimate X-Men #13 is now available for purchase at comic bookstores.
