Shaina Nitura leads UAAP women's volleyball scorers

Shaina Nitura, a rookie from Adamson University, is the top scorer at the end of the first round of UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball. She scored a total of 170 points in her first seven games. This includes 152 kills, 10 blocks, and eight aces. In her last game, Nitura set a new record with 38 points, surpassing previous records held by Alyssa Valdez and Sisi Rondina. Last year's best scorer, Angge Poyos from the University of Santo Tomas, is in second place with 136 points. La Salle’s Shevana Laput is third with 122 points. Other notable players include Angel Canino and Reg Jurado, who each scored 118 points, and Alyssa Solomon from National University with 116 points. In addition to scoring, the first round had standout players in various categories. National University’s Vange Alinsug was recognized as the Best Spiker, while Bella Belen from UST was the top server. Riza Nogales of the University of the East led in blocking, and Angelica Reyes from UEE was named the Best Digger. In the men's division, Ateneo’s Ken Batas led all scorers with 142 points. His teammate, Mikko Espartero, had the best spike rate at 50%. Other top performers included UST's Poy Colinares, who excelled in serving, and Dux Yambao, who led in setting. Overall, the first round showcased impressive talent across both divisions.
