Sharjah announces potential six-day Eid holiday break
Sharjah has announced the Eid Al Fitr holidays for public sector employees, which may lead to a six-day break for many. The holidays will run from Shawwal 1 to Shawwal 3, 1446 AH. Government work will resume on Shawwal 4, 1446 AH, but employees working in shifts will have different schedules. The exact start date for Eid Al Fitr will depend on the moon sighting. If Eid is observed on Sunday, March 30, employees will enjoy a five-day holiday from April 28 to April 1. However, if it starts on Monday, March 31, they will receive a six-day break from April 28 to April 2. In Sharjah, government employees have a four-day workweek and typically enjoy longer weekends. This change to a three-day weekend occurred in January 2022. The UAE plans to determine the start of Eid through a moon sighting on March 29.
