Sheboygan Lutheran aims to win state basketball title
The boys basketball team at Sheboygan Lutheran High School is preparing for the state tournament. Their first game will take place on Friday against Abundant Life Christian High School. The team has a strong record of 24 wins and 4 losses this season. Head Coach Nick Verhagen emphasizes the importance of staying focused and calm. The players are getting used to practicing on a college-size court, which is different from their usual setting. Senior Captain Jake Thomas expressed his excitement and readiness to win. He noted that the team feels "hungry" for victory. The team looks to bring home the championship for the first time since their last title in 2019. Senior Andrew Krueger reflected on his journey, saying he never thought he would be in this position. He has worked hard, along with his teammates. The players acknowledge the support of their community. Both captains commented on how loyal and encouraging their fans have been. They also attribute their success to their faith and dedication to their values as a team. In the days leading up to the game, the Crusaders will continue to practice hard. They aim to build muscle memory to perform well on game day. The match against Abundant Life will start at 10 a.m. at the Kohl Center in Madison.
