Shenzhen Dobot launches US$27,500 humanoid robot pre-orders
Shenzhen Dobot, a Chinese robotics company, has announced the launch of its new humanoid robot called Dobot Atom. The humanoid is priced at 199,000 yuan, which is about US$27,500. The company has started taking pre-orders, and mass production is expected to begin by mid-2025. Dobot Atom is designed with features like five-finger hands and a straight-knee gait. These innovations help to reduce energy consumption by 42 percent. A video on their website demonstrates the robot's capabilities, such as serving breakfast and moving objects. The humanoid stands 1.53 meters tall and has impressive precision, with positioning accuracy of 0.05mm. It can adjust to different workbench heights, making it versatile for various tasks. The robot can navigate narrow spaces thanks to its humanlike movements. Dobot Atom is part of a growing trend in China, where many start-ups are focused on developing humanoid robots. The robot is powered by advanced AI capabilities, processing up to 1,500 trillion operations per second. In comparison, a recently released graphics card has slightly higher performance at over 1,800 TOPS.
