Sheriff Matt Bayles sworn in for second term as drug overdoses decline in Marion County
Matt Bayles was sworn in for his second term as Marion County sheriff on January 5, 2025. He expressed pride in the reduction of drug overdoses in the county and highlighted successful programs like Safeguard Our Seniors. For 2025, Bayles plans to establish a Citizens Police Academy to educate the public about the Sheriff’s Office. He also intends to hold an open house for residents to learn more about the department's work. Bayles was reelected in November without opposition. Under Ohio law, sheriffs serve four-year terms.
