Shevana Laput shines in UAAP, earns fellow players' praise

Shevana Laput, a player for the La Salle Lady Spikers, is making headlines in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament. She impressed many during a recent match, scoring 19 points with 16 kills, two blocks, and an ace. This performance follows her strong start in the MVP race, where she is currently second after Round 1. In the game against the NU Lady Bulldogs, La Salle lost despite Laput's efforts. Bella Belen, the MVP frontrunner from NU, praised Laput's improvement from last season. Belen noted that Laput's size makes her a tough opponent, stating that defending against her proved challenging. The competition between Laput and her teammates is described as healthy. Alyssa Solomon, another standout player, expressed pride in Laput's achievements. Solomon emphasized the importance of teamwork in volleyball and shared her admiration for Laput’s dedication. La Salle's recent loss marked the end of their four-game winning streak, bringing their record to 5-3. They are now tied with Far Eastern University and the University of Santo Tomas. The Lady Spikers are looking to rebound in their next match against UST on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
