Shiv Nadar named India's top philanthropist for third consecutive year in 2024 Hurun list

Shiv Nadar, founder of HCL, has been named India's most generous philanthropist for the third time, donating Rs 2,153 crore in the past year. This amounts to Rs 5.9 crore per day, according to the EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List 2024. Mukesh Ambani ranks second with an annual donation of Rs 407 crore. Nikhil Kamath, at 37, is recognized as the youngest philanthropist on the list, while Rohini Nilekani is noted as the most generous woman, donating Rs 154 crore. The top 10 philanthropists contributed a total of Rs 4,625 crore, representing nearly 53% of the overall donations. Six of these donors have focused their efforts on education, highlighting a commitment to improving access to quality learning in India.
