Shivamogga to celebrate World Theatre Day on March 27
The Karnataka Nataka Academy, Shivamogga Rangayana, and local amateur artists will hold a series of events on March 27 to celebrate World Theatre Day. The day will feature various activities, including theatre songs, an art exhibition, and a unique play performed in a moving bus. Director Prasanna D. Sagar shared details about the bus play titled ‘KA 16 F 452’. This performance is based on a short story by Shivakumar Mavali. It will take place on a private bus traveling from Shivamogga to Savalanga, starting at 11 a.m. Passengers can watch the play without extra tickets, but they will need to purchase bus tickets. Activities planned for the day include presentations of theatre songs at multiple locations. These will start at Freedom Park at 7 a.m., followed by Nehru Stadium at 8 a.m., Basaveshwara Circle at 9 a.m., and at Sahyadri College at 1 p.m. There will also be an art exhibition at the Vakilara Bhavana and nearby locations. The event will end with a stage program and another play at Kuvempu Rangamandira at 6:30 p.m. Organizers will honor several theatre personalities during the closing ceremony. The play “Mudukana Maduve” will also be staged that evening. Theatre figures Kanthesh Kadaramandalagi and R.S. Halaswamy joined the press conference to promote the event.
