Shooting at Jacksonville gas station leaves one dead, injured
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting at a gas station that left one man dead and another injured. The incident happened at a BP gas station on Atlantic Boulevard around 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday. Police found two men in their 20s with gunshot wounds. One victim died at the scene, while the other was taken to the hospital for treatment. A friend of the deceased spoke about him, saying he was a good person and a family man with two children. His cousin, Kendall Jones, expressed heartbreak, noting that the victim, named Jermell, was an innocent bystander and not involved in gang activity. The second victim, identified only as “Michael,” was wounded in the leg and is receiving medical care. His grandmother, Sharron Franck, shared her sadness over the situation, recalling that she lost another grandson to gun violence five years ago. Police believe multiple guns were used in the shooting as they found different types of shell casings at the scene. There are currently no suspects in custody.
