Shooting incident leads to fatal crash in Darke County

Darke County Sheriff Mark Whittaker reported details of a shooting and crash on Thursday. Josiah “Joe” Maloon, 57, shot Randy Ward II multiple times after inviting him to his home. Before Ward's arrival, Maloon had attacked and shot his wife, Juanita Maloon, 53. A chase ensued, ending in a crash that killed Joe Maloon. Ward was seriously injured and taken to Miami Valley Hospital. Sheriff Whittaker stated that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
