The Shore Conference will have 22 teams in girls flag football this spring, up from 18 last year. The sport has rapidly grown since its introduction in 2021 and may become a sanctioned sport by 2026. A kickoff event sponsored by the New York Giants took place in Neptune, featuring participation from 14 programs. Current and former Giants players coached nearly 300 girls in various skills and drills. Each team will play seven games this season. The NJSIAA will vote on sanctioning girls flag football later this year, with a full membership vote expected by spring 2026.
