SHRC investigates transfer of visually impaired Deputy Collector

The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has taken action regarding the transfer of a visually impaired Deputy Collector. This decision was made on Saturday after concerns were raised about the accessibility of the building to which he was moved. Deputy Collector H. Rupesh was transferred from an office on the first floor to the District Insurance Office on the third floor. The SHRC pointed out that the new location lacks facilities for people with disabilities, including a lift. Climbing the stairs to reach the third floor requires help due to the building's design. V. Geetha, a member of the SHRC, has instructed Alappuzha District Collector Alex Varghese to investigate the situation. He has been asked to submit a report within seven days. The commission aims to ensure that the rights of the Deputy Collector are respected.
