Shreyas Iyer sets IPL auction record with Rs 26.75 crore deal to Punjab Kings

Shreyas Iyer became the most expensive player in IPL auction history, signing with Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore during the 2025 auction in Jeddah. His base price was Rs 2 crore, and he was previously with Kolkata Knight Riders. Iyer's signing surpasses the previous record of Rs 24.75 crore set by Mitchell Starc in the last auction. Starc was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders, breaking the earlier record of Rs 20.5 crore for Pat Cummins. Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL title last season before being released ahead of this auction.
