Shreyas Iyer sets record as costliest player in IPL Auction 2025

In the IPL Auction 2025, Shreyas Iyer became the most expensive player ever, sold for ₹26.75 crore to Punjab Kings. This surpasses the previous record of ₹24.75 crore set by Mitchell Starc last year. Arshdeep Singh was the first player sold, going to Punjab Kings for ₹18 crore using a Right To Match card. Kagiso Rabada was acquired by Gujarat Titans for ₹10.785 crore, while Jos Buttler fetched ₹15.75 crore from the same team. The auction, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, features 574 players, with 204 slots available across 10 franchises. Day 1 will see 84 top players auctioned, followed by an accelerated auction for nominated players on Day 2.
