Siblings injured by lightning during Kottayam thunderstorm

Two siblings were injured by lightning during a powerful thunderstorm in Kottayam on Friday evening. The incident happened near Marangattupilly around 7 p.m. Ann Maria, 22, and her brother Andrews, 17, were at home when the lightning struck. They were quickly taken to Mar Sleeva Medicity Palai for treatment. The severity of their injuries has not been released, but both are receiving medical care. Earlier in the day, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had warned of moderate rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds of up to 50 km/h in some areas of Alappuzha and Kottayam districts. Due to the severe weather, local authorities are advising residents to stay indoors and take precautions.
