Sidney Crosby reaches 1,600 career points in historic NHL milestone
Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins reached 1,600 career regular-season points on Wednesday, becoming only the 10th player in NHL history to achieve this milestone. He accomplished this with an assist during a 6-5 overtime win against the Buffalo Sabres. Crosby is the first player to reach this mark since Jaromir Jagr in 2011. He is now the fifth fastest player to reach 1,600 points, doing so in 1,277 games. He recorded a total of one goal and two assists in the game, bringing his total to 1,602 points. Additionally, teammate Evgeni Malkin scored his 500th career goal in the same game. Crosby assisted on Malkin's milestone goal, making them the only active teammates to both have 500 goals. The night generated significant social media buzz and discussions about Crosby's legacy in hockey.
