Silverchair reunites in Sydney without lead singer Johns
An iconic Australian rock band, Silverchair, is set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its debut album “Frogstomp” next week. The event will take place at the Metro Social in Sydney on March 26. However, the band will be missing its lead singer, Daniel Johns. Drummer Ben Gillies and bassist Chris Joannou will be joined by former manager John Watson and label executive John O'Donnell at the event. This venue is significant for the band as it was one of the places where they played early gigs before becoming famous. The celebration will include a Q&A session and a performance by The Buoys, a local alternative rock band. Attendees can expect special memorabilia. Each guest will receive a free Frogstomp lanyard and laminate. Limited edition Silverchair items will also be available for sale. Daniel Johns has distanced himself from Silverchair since the band's breakup in 2011. He did not take part in the recent memoir "Love & Pain" and has expressed discomfort with a documentary that allegedly featured the band's music without his permission. Silverchair gained fame with “Frogstomp,” which debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart and reached No. 9 on the Billboard 200. The album included hits like “Tomorrow” and “Pure Massacre.” It has sold over 10 million copies worldwide and won five ARIA Awards. Silverchair remains popular, with millions of monthly listeners on streaming platforms.
